Trigger Warning: Discussion of sexual assault, violence against women and rape.
Violence against women such a pervasive issue that it’s become a normal part of womens’ daily routines to worry about their safety. This campaign aims to spread awareness of the harsh reality of women’s lives that has become normalized, and to encourage people to learn how to support women and make them feel safer. The goal is for men to realize how pervasive the threat against women is, learn about the daily fears women face, and learn how to be part of the solution.
The design strategy of this campaign used a mix of dark and vibrant colors to emulate the tension and fear involved in this harsh reality. The strong title typeface and softer serif body typeface were chosen to appeal to a male audience and create contrast between feminine and masculine styles. The posters used a mainly illustrated treatment, while the newspaper used impactful photography and the Instagram account utilized the poster illustrations as well as typography.
