This brand experience was created as AirBnB’s response to COVID-19 during the period where people were still unable to travel much, especially internationally. During that time, travel was missed and wanted but the return to it was slow, cautious, and difficult. But after a few difficult years, the need for vacations was still very prevalent. The solution for people is a fictional AirBnB app called Staycations.

Traveling safely and smartly after the peaks of a pandemic is possible through creating more opportunities for domestic and local travel and activities. Whether it’s a road trip, a weekend flight or a train ride to the nearest city, AirBnB’s Staycations was designed to provide that much needed get-away. With their extensive data on attractions and destinations in even the smallest corners of the country, Staycations can satisfy people’s adventurous travel seeking sides on a safer and smaller scale.

The thematic treatment of this app utilizes bright, warm hues similar to AirBnB’s branding standards as well as a newer look to signify the difference of the times of this service. The typography and rounded rectangles aim to evoke adventurous bookings and enthusiasm for local travel. While the focus is on the data and function of the app, the design treatment follows its purpose.
